Sounds like a sailor's worst nightmare, or more likely every ex-pat's next day nightmare... Bermuda's national drink is the cause of many a sore head. It started in the highly successful ginger beer factory run as a subsidiary to the Royal Naval Officer's Club. It wasn't long before it was discovered that a splash of the local black rum was just what the ginger beer was missing. The name is said to have originated when an old sailor, holding aloft the thunderhead in a glass, observed the drink was the "colour of a cloud only a fool or a dead man would sail under." Probably followed by, "Barman, I'll have another Dark'n Stormy!"
Mix in an old fashioned glass over ice:
2 oz. Gosling's Black Seal Rum
4 oz. Ginger Beer
Editors note: Dark'n Stormy is also how you feel the day after the night before on this stuff.........
